Documentary film

We are starting a collaboration with Fredrik Ousbäck – documentary films about the wooden boat culture of the Sörmland coast

We are pleased to announce that we have begun a collaboration with the filmmaker Fredrik Ousbäck (Format History) regarding the production of documentary film within the project Clinker boats – a Nordic collaboration 

The collaboration means that a longer documentary production is being developed with a focus on the Sörmland coast from a historical and cultural-historical perspective, where clinker-built wooden boats and their significance form a central theme. The films will be shot at locations along the Sörmland coast and designed so that the material can be used both as a whole and in several standalone parts – for example, for education, lectures, and digital publication

The working title for the production is
”Clinker – wood, sea, and history along the Sörmland coast” and the goal is to through three interconnected films:

  • place the Nordic clinker boat tradition in a local context,

  • highlight places, people, and stories along the coast,

  • and contribute to the documentation of a living cultural heritage

The films will also be published via the established YouTube channel FORMAT HISTORY which provides an opportunity for wide dissemination
