About the project

The purpose of the project is to strengthen, preserve, and make visible the local engagement of associations operating within coastal and archipelago culture along the Sörmland coast.

The goal of the project is to produce a comprehensive digital documentation of the Sörmland coast's wooden boat and clinker boat tradition in the form of films, photographs, stories, and texts. Additionally, the goal is to create a public event connected to coastal and archipelago culture (Femöredagen 2.0).

The project's activities include project management and steering group work (finance, follow-up, reporting, and communication), workshops, networking meetings, and exchanges of experience, study trips, public events, documentation in the form of film and photo, as well as the development of a website, printed informational material, and exhibition material.

Role distribution – who does what in the project organization

Project owner – Leader Sörmland coast

Leader Sörmland coast is the formal project owner and is responsible for ensuring that the project is carried out in accordance with decisions, regulations, and the established project plan.

The project owner's responsibilities include:

• the legal and financial primary responsibility towards funders,

• ensuring that the project complies with Leader regulations and decisions,

• ensuring that the project's accounting, follow-up, and reporting are carried out correctly,

• ensuring that the project has access to necessary administrative support.

Project manager

The project manager is responsible for the operational management of the project and for ensuring that the project's goals and activities are implemented according to plan.

The project manager's main tasks are to:

• lead and coordinate all of the project's activities,

• be the contact person for the project owner, partners, and external actors,

• plan and follow up on the timeline, budget, and deliverables,

• call and prepare meetings in the steering group and working groups,

• coordinate documentation, communication, and external visibility,

• support the Boat Teams' work locally,

• Final reporting of the project's results.

The project manager is also part of the steering group.

Steering group

The steering group has a strategic and advisory function and should develop the project in line with the project's purpose, goals, and long-term ambitions.

The steering group consists of:

• project manager,

• representative from LAG,

• representative from the municipality,

• representative from Sörmland museum.

The steering group's responsibility is to:

• follow the project's development and goal fulfillment,

• provide strategic support to the project manager,

• contribute to anchoring in respective organizations and networks,

• manage overarching choices, priorities, and any adjustments in the project's direction,

• ensure quality in the project's content, particularly related to cultural heritage, documentation, and local anchoring.

The boat team Oxelösund

The Boat Team Oxelösund is a local collaboration platform between associations in the Oxelösund area.

The Boat Team's role is to:

• coordinate the efforts of the participating associations locally,

• plan and carry out local activities and events,

• be the project's local contact point towards associations, volunteers, and visitors,

• contribute to the documentation of activities, boats, and stories,

• work on recruitment and engagement of volunteers.

The boat team is not responsible for the project's finances or formal reporting.

The boat team Stensund

The boat team Stensund has a corresponding role in the Stensund area and related to activities and associations there.

The boat team's tasks are to:

• coordinate local associations and actors at Stensund,

• functioned as a local hub for workshops, study visits, and practical work,

• participate in documentation and knowledge collection,

• contribute to collaboration between educational environments, associations, and the project.

The Stensund Boat Team also has an operational and coordinating role, without financial primary responsibility.

The associations 

The affiliated associations constitute the project's practical and voluntary base.

The main role of the associations is to:

• participate in and carry out activities, such as workdays, exhibitions, meetings, and events,

• contribute local knowledge, stories, and contacts,

• provide voluntary resources and local arrangements,

• participate in the documentation of boats, environments, and activities.

The associations are responsible for their own activities and their own voluntary efforts, but are coordinated within their respective Boat Team.
