New short film highlights the clinker boat as a living cultural heritage

New short film about wooden boat culture and clinker boats. See the premiere of Klinkbåten – a Nordic cultural heritage on Femöredagen in Oxelösund on August 29.

On August 29, the premiere is for Klinkbåten – a Nordic cultural heritage, a new short film about the people, craftsmanship, and commitment that keeps the wooden boat culture alive.

The film has been produced within the framework of Wooden Waves and takes us, among other things, to the Boat Building Program at Stensund Folk High School, where the knowledge of traditional wooden boat building is passed on to new generations. We also get to meet the Boat Team Oxelösund and hear more about why it is important not only to preserve the boats – but also the knowledge, stories, and community around them.

What happens to a cultural heritage if no one can craft it anymore, tells the stories or takes care of the boats?

It is one of the questions we want to raise with the film.

Premiere on Femöredagen

🎬 The film is about ten minutes long and produced by Uffe Bertilsson and Thomas Blomqvist.

Can't you be at the premiere?

No worries! After Femöredagen, it will be published here on our website and on our YouTube channel. Klinkbåten – a Nordic cultural heritage Then we hope that the film can continue its journey – to be used by associations, shared further, and spark curiosity in even more about the fantastic wooden boat culture that exists along our coast.
