The Network The Boat Team in Oxelösund – together for coastal culture and wooden boats ⛵️
During the autumn, a new collaboration has emerged between several of Oxelösund's associations focusing on coastal culture, wooden boats, and an active archipelago life. The initiative is called The Boat Team in Oxelösund and gathers actors such as Oxelösund's local heritage association, the Pilot Archive, the Archipelago Museum, Friends of the Fishing Boat, and the Maritime Museum in a joint effort to care for and develop our maritime history.
A network with structure and activities
The Boat Team is more than a name – it is a network where the associations jointly plan and carry out activities, working groups, and events with clearer structure and division of labor. The focus is on:

Maintenance and renovation of clinker-built boats – a craft that reflects the Nordic boatbuilding tradition.

Documentation and preservation of boat history and coastal traditions together with members and volunteers.

Working groups that meet regularly for practical work and knowledge exchange, e.g. Boat Group Hulda and Boat Group Hasselö.

Study circles and courses , including in the operation and maintenance of stationary engines as part of spreading knowledge.

In 2026, the Boat Team plans several exciting activities where you can participate and experience coastal life up close:

Display of clinker-built boats at wooden boat docks in Oxelösund.

Pilot Day in Oxelösund , a tribute to the coast's pilot and shipping traditions.

Femöre Day 2026 – where the Boat Team contributes with activities around wooden boats and maritime culture.

Cultural Heritage Days with the theme ”Heritage in the Danger Zone – Cultural Heritage Worth Protecting!” where boat culture is included in the broader cultural heritage work.
